Fun and Confidence

Introduction to Nose Play

Did you know your dog is a genius? His or her natural sense of smell is a dog’s greatest gift, and Nose Play is a fun way to take advantage of that. Nosework is a fabulous sport and activity that provides mental and physical stimulation for your dog. Using your dog’s inherent desire to sniff, he'll learn to track through boxes and the environment for food or toy rewards. Only one dog works the boxes and room at a time, so regardless of your dog's temperament around other dogs s/he can still enjoy and participate in the class. Well-behaved, nervous, unsure, reactive, buttheaded and goofball dogs are all welcome to participate (human-aggressive dogs are not appropriate for this class but can still learn to "play" via private lessons). Between turns, you will get to watch the other dogs work the boxes and hides, learning a lot about "reading" dogs and cheering on your classmates. Dogs end each class tired, happy, mentally stimulated and with fun and easy exercises to practice each week between classes.

Introduction to Odor

Now that your dog knows the foundation of the Nosework game, this level continues to encourage the desire to search and starts pairing the odor of natural Birch oil with the food or toys your dog has already been working for. New and multiple terrains are covered as we build your dog’s drive and enthusiasm for this city slicker’s “search and rescue the food!” game. Intro to Nosework is a prerequisite for this class.
